Skiing ignites in Siskiyou County as soon as the snow flies - often lasting from late November and through the middle of April. Better yet, all this skiing comes without the “heading home on Sunday” traffic jams and high costs of other resort areas.
For groomed downhill skiing, Mt. Shasta Board & Ski Park offers runs for beginners through advanced snow fanatics, including terrain parks and half pipes for boarders. Beginner runs, a full slate of classes, and uncrowded runs also render it the ideal beginner’s resort.
Of course, beginning back country skiers will find Mt. Shasta an exceptional adventure - a paved road leads directly to a 7,000 foot trailhead. And while Mt. Shasta is rightly famous for its backcountry skiing, surrounding areas offer different runs and more solitude - including Mt. Eddy, Scott Mountain, and Castle Lake.
In simple terms, Mt. Shasta is a winter wonderland for skiers, snowboarders and cross-country skiers of every stripe.
