Every child should have the chance to sled down a wintry hill, and in winter, Siskiyou County offers you many places to make that dream a reality.
Popular among the sledding crowd is Snowman’s Hill (the summit of Highway 89 between Mt. Shasta and McCloud, on the south side of the road across from the Ski Park Highway intersection). Ample parking, bathrooms and crowds of happy sledders make it ideal for slightly older children.
Or head to Bunny Flat at the top of Everett Memorial Highway (on the slopes of Mount Shasta). Open throughout the winter (bathrooms, parking and gentle slopes).
When the town of Mt. Shasta is snow-covered, there’s even wonderful sledding for younger kids at Shastice Park (the opposite end of the parking lot from the Siskiyou Ice Rink).
Sleds are not available for rent, so bring your own, or stop by our friendly hardware and variety stores to gear up. And don’t forget to dress warm!
