Nestled among pines, cedars, and firs alongside Mears Creek in the Upper Sacramento River Canyon, the Best in the West Resort provides the perfect access to Mount Shasta (just 20 minutes to the north), Lake Shasta (20 minutes to the south), Castle Crags State Park (5 minutes), the Sacramento River (2 minutes), and Mears Creek (outside your back door.) Our five cozy cottages have complete kitchens with gas ranges and wood heating stoves, one or two bedrooms with queen-size beds, full bath, and back deck. Across the road we feature an RV park with full hookups, and a laundromat. Well behaved dogs are welcome, but please call in advance to see about availability of space. Castillo Cottage perfectly sits on 2.5 acres of landscaped wooded area of McCloud. This two-story rock cottage is built with local stone which holds the history of days past of McCloud’s area. Decorated in selected furnishing and decor, this home has character of time and places. The outdoor living area adds to this homes enjoyment; with the custom outdoor fireplace /gathering area, BBQ with tile counters, and large arbor dining /sitting area. This 4 bedroom, 3.5 bathrooms, 2 living, 2 dining areas plus game room that is big enough to bring family and friends together. The kitchen is positioned in the great room between the two dining rooms. The great room houses a surround sound system, satellite TV, rock fireplace and high ceilings. The front living area is a great place to retreat or use as a greeting room.

This home has hardwood floors in the entry, great room, and master suite with carpet throughout the rest of the rooms. The upstairs landing splits sleeping quarters with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with a claw foot tub on one side. On the other side of the upstairs is one full bath, bedroom, and game room. The game room has a pool table, satellite TV, with plenty of lounging area.
